Finishing carpentry is the work the client actually touches. The week is about accurate measurement, clean joints, and fitting into openings that are never quite square — the skills that separate a joiner from someone who owns tools.

What you will learn
Five days on the tools, not five days in a chair.
- Measuring, marking out and cutting accurately — and checking twice before cutting once
- Hanging doors: frames, packing, hinges, locks and clearances
- Fitting skirting, architrave and trim, including mitres and scribes
- Ceiling and partition framing, and fixing boards flat and level
- Fixings for timber, block and concrete, and choosing the right one
- Working with hand and power tools safely and accurately
- Protecting a finish until handover, and a snag list that comes back clean
Safety on this trade
Power tool guards and inspection, dust and noise, working from steps and platforms, and taking a damaged tool out of service.
How you are assessed
Three assessments, in Sinhala or English.

Trade skills
8 questions · 20 minutes
Real site knowledge and safety: working at height, damaged power tools, concrete mixes, reinforcement, striking formwork, tiling preparation, and knowing when to ask for training instead of attempting an untrained task.
After the course
Pass, and you are certified. Certified candidates are shortlisted, and our in-house placement agency submits that shortlist to an overseas employer. The employer makes the final selection — we do not promise an outcome, we prepare you for one.
