Tiling is judged on the millimetre. In one week you work with real materials on real surfaces, learn to set out a room so the cuts fall where they should, and finish to the standard a site supervisor abroad looks for.

What you will learn
Five days on the tools, not five days in a chair.
- Reading a floor and setting out from a datum line so cuts are even and symmetrical
- Checking and preparing substrates: levelling, priming, and dealing with a surface that is out of true
- Mixing adhesive and grout to the right consistency, and knowing the working time you have
- Cutting tiles with a manual cutter and a wet saw, including holes and edge cuts
- Laying to level and to line, spacing, and keeping joints consistent across a run
- Grouting, cleaning off, and finishing edges and corners
- Recognising a finish that will be rejected, and correcting it before it sets
Safety on this trade
Cutting tools, dust and eye protection, safe handling of adhesives, and keeping a wet floor safe for everyone else on the job.

Three assessments, in Sinhala or English.

Trade skills

Real site knowledge and safety: working at height, damaged power tools, concrete mixes, reinforcement, striking formwork, tiling preparation, and knowing when to ask for training instead of attempting an untrained task.
After the course
Pass, and you are certified. Certified candidates are shortlisted, and our in-house placement agency submits that shortlist to an overseas employer. The employer makes the final selection — we do not promise an outcome, we prepare you for one.
